Merkmale / Symptome

Die genetische Ursache wurde nachgewiesen (Sonneveld J, 2014). Aorten-Lungen-Fistel, Aortenruptur schon im Fohlenalter (akute Ruptur und plötzlicher Tod; subakut; chronisch mit Aorten-Lungen-Fistel); ungewöhnliche Lokalisation im proximalen Bereich des Ligamentum arteriosum (ligamentum arteriosum Botalli); Anomalie der Bildung von Kollagen. Ev. Megaoesophagus (Sonneveld J, 2014). Erhöhung des arteriellen Blutdrucks (Vera L, 2018)

Dysregulation der Matrix-Metalloproteinasen (Maassen MAJ 2014). Die Glycosaminoglycane (GAG) und das Kollagen spielen möglicherweise eine Rolle (Havik SM 2014; Sijsling AM 2015).
Belastungen Schäden, die zu Funktionsausfällen führen (Herz- und Kreislaufapparat), die den Allgemeinzustand und die Lebensqualität stark beeinträchtigen; rezidivierende Kolik, Lethargie, periphere Ödeme, Tachykardie, Husten, rezidivierendes Nasenbluten, reduzierte Leistungskapazität; plötzlicher Tod (Aortenruptur).

Massgebende Kriterien für die Beurteilung der Belastungen sind insbesondere:

Diagnose (Allgemeine und kardiologische Untersuchung); Anpassung der Zuchtstrategie (die Eltern eines betroffenen Fohlens sollten in der Zucht nicht eingesetzt werden)
